Great video Katie!

Just thought I would throw out my lighting secrets for those looking for a really professional results on a budget…

You can purchase from home depot for around $49 (or less) professional lights that are around 1200 watts. You will find these in the work light section.. These are very powerful lighting that matches up with the expensive camera lights. Simply point them up at the ceiling above your head. (This will bounce the light off the ceiling and eliminate you very well.) You WILL get very professional results using this very budget wise method.

Hope this helps others! But most important as Katie says, start using video. You will see a real difference in your marketing!

Thanks Dave, I have so much trouble with lighting and I never thought of going to home depot. I always thought that eventually I would have to purchase professional lighting.

Good tip on bouncing off the ceiling as well.

Hi Katie,

And thanks for the video creation tips, I’m certain they will help a lot of people in their video creation endeavors.

Just to clear one thing up though, I think what Dave (The Hitman) Nosker meant to say was the lights shining off of the ceiling will “illuminate” you.

God knows we don’t want to “eliminate” you. After all there is only one of you.

Have a great day and thanks again for the tips.

Some of them I already knew, however as I have not started using video I obviously have not used any of them. I will be using video in the future and I will definitely use all of your tips when I do. I have been an amateur photographer for some time now. I really love photography as a hobby. While doing my Photography especially wedding Photos I have learned quite a little about lighting. Maybe when I start doing video that should be one of the first things I talk about in my videos. What do you think?

Do you know that one of the reasons vidoes working for you so well is because you are beautiful and look great in video?

Reply

Katie Freiling May 22, 2010 at 11:10 am

Hi Harry… You know, that obviously doesn’t hurt. But it’s not what really makes video effective for marketing. It comes down to your ability to captivate an audience, share value, and speak clearly. Your inner confidence is much more important than outer appearance :)

Hey Katie,

Another great video as always. You come across so natural and genuine in your videos. I also can see what you mean about looking at the camera because it feels like you are talking directly to me.

Obviously this didn’t happen to anyone else because I didn’t see anything in the comments, but when I was watching the video when I got to the 11 minute mark my screen went black and my computer froze.

It happened twice in a row and my computer is brand new and I’m running an anti-virus. So I’m not sure what happened but I just wanted to give you the heads up in the event you hear this from anyone else. I’m gonna go directly to Viddler and watch this time to see what happens.

Take Care… P.S. I recently added you on Skype as well.

Is there a Private-option on Viddler?
