How To ‘Build Your Value’ As An Entrepreneur

If you’re a social media marketer or internet marketer, odds are you’ve heard this phrase before… Everyone seems to be talking about ‘building your value’ and ‘giving value’ when you build your personal brand as a social media entrepreneur.  It really is the secret to creating massive success for yourself online… But do you actually know how to do it?  What does it really mean to build your value?

This is one of the most commonly asked questions I get from students of mine… So I wanted to share my answer here with YOU to really help you develop an immense amount of inherent value and in turn, become a magnetic and truly successful entrepreneur.

Click Play on the video below to learn ‘How To Build Your Value’:

Thanks so much for spending this time with me here today!  Building your value is essential… But before anyone else can recognize your inherent value, you have to realize it first!  Believing in yourself and knowing that you are truly valuable and have much to give to others is really a foundational requirement.  Since value is measured by perception, or ‘perceived value’, it’s crucial that that perception starts with you!

So after hearing this message today, how are you going to work on building your value this week?  What specific action steps are you going to take?  Please share them below with the community… I always love reading comments!

Hi Katie!

Thanks you for that wonderful post!

I’ve never thought about creating value for myself by sharing what I’m going through.

What a beautiful and timely reminder that sharing what we know increases our value. Whether we are in the field of marketing or simply living our daily lives, we are able to help those around us while we help ourselves.

As a side note, I found your latest blog post while I was researching ways to promote my new book (Numb No More which can be found on Amazon). Of course it isn’t a surprise that it’s about sharing my experience to increase the value in the lives of others as well. I’m helping people help themselves!

Thank you so much for sharing!

First thing first if we want to build A VALUE we have to be RELIABLITY in our CONDUCTS, so that everybody will have TRUST with us. so:
1.A VALUE means building TRUST !
2.In order to build TRUST, we have to build GOOD RELATIONS.
3.In order to build GOOD RELATIONS, we have to build EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS.
So, Internet marketing and social media marketing can be involved here, and do we TRUST Katie Freiling? I DO!

Kim Pottle July 22, 2009 at 4:54 pm

I am going to continue building my value by posting at least two more blogs this week. I am also going to step up my efforts to become more visible (on the internet and as a person). And I’m going to work on my patience. EVERYBODY around me benefits from that! :-)

Damayanthi July 22, 2009 at 5:29 pm

Hi Katie,

Thanks for this great post. Following you is truely valuable for me and I am sure all the others as well.

This was a subject that I had problems with when I started online. I never thought I had any value to offer people because I was struggling with my business. I exactly did what you are sharing here & managed to get over that hurdle because I am starting to get some result from my efforts. (i.e; result of gaining self confidence)

You have explained it very well here & anyone who is having the mindset that I had, need to take your advise and run with it.

Thanks again Katie

Im on that exact journey with my new venture. Its always good to learn and put yourself out there! As much as it may appear uncomfortable at first, the rewards for doing just that outway any negativity.

Thank you for sharing Katie

Hi Katie,

Thanks for this wonderful post! It was a sincere pleasure listening to the wisdom shared.

It amazes me everyday how some of our own personal everyday experiences that we take for granted may be just the thing that someone else needs to hear or read about in order to help them with something in their life. That is one of the many facts that help me personally enjoy my life.

In the words of Thomas Carlyle, “Every man is my superior in that I may learn from him.”

I like the term ‘deposits into value bank’.This is something i apply-i find the more you recognise that moment when u may feel lazy or clouded -and you immediately act on it,you are kind of looking into the ‘well’ or yourself and turning things around or inside out as i like to put it.We can often surprise ourself when we act on our senses too.I always find the more training videos i put on my youtube channel the more i enjoy myself, believe in myself and gain a quiet, strong self confidence which is so much more than ‘running to stand still’ or like people who feel the need to ‘talk too loud to be heard’.Whats good about your vids Katie is your eye contact with the camera is great and you are able to communicate your message clearly (with calm body langauge too),but also because the subjects you choose are personal to each and every marketer out there, this is your skill and you’re doing it well.Just like the laws of attraction:the more we smile, shine and share positive actions and thoughts ,the more likely we are to bring peoples attention into our radius, and ofcourse the opposite bears negative sometimes.I saw a wonderful short film on youtube- i know you will really appreciate this-do watch it it’s definately down your ally and might give you further ideas-it’s called ‘Validation’ -you will find it on youtube-im sure you’ve seen this already, yet if you haven’t i think you’ll love it.I’ve had a lot of adversity in my life, though i feel privilidged now because i’ve learnt to embrace it,turn it around and am now anle to encourage others and be positive and jolly which puts others in a good mood all the time.It took years to understand the power of what we have inside ourselves already, and ofcourse some people never even recognise the strenghts within themselves,so in many cases don’t share anything due to complacency. The film Jerry Mcguire and Yes Man come to mind!If you have’nt seen Yes Man (jim carey) you must-it is one of the funniest films about self-discovery you will ever watch. My message is too long-im gonna head-best wishes from Ireland and the ocean where i live-Alex Hall (marketer, thinker, surfer, free diver and encourager!)

Scott Phares July 22, 2009 at 11:29 pm

Thanks for the great video and post today! I always enjoy and glean a lot of great knowledge from you Katie!… things that I can in turn deposit into my own value bank. I also wanted to thank you for the two blogging courses you recently held. I’ve had a blog since January of this year, but was “blogged-down” in it. I had no idea of how to structure it or even how to use it. Well, thanks to you, I finished my new blog yesterday, it rocks (even if I say so myself), and I’m already beginning to post my own valuable content … your teaching made it so much easier for me to understand and then properly implement. Thanks again !!

Refreshing, insightful and pragmatic as always Katie…nicely done!
Someone once told me that when you have great value that you could go and live in the wilderness or mountaintops and the world would beat a path to your door. So as you say it applies not only to marketing but life as a whole.

Rellie July 23, 2009 at 11:23 am

Value .. value hmm.. like a value meal?
just kidding..
i just finished an article on the same topic..”Gain Value So You Can Distribute Value”

im a sober guy but i never felt more like a hippy in my life writing it…it was actually empowering and i felt some enlightenment researching and writing about Value..i gained value by looking it Video

Michael Ionesco July 23, 2009 at 1:18 pm

Thanks Katie. I appreciate the insights. I’ve been asking myself that very question recently, “How am I going to go about building value for myself?”. Your suggestion to become educated and an expert in one’s field turned on a light switch for me in my head :) It’s so simple and it was right in front of me… but I guess sometimes the most obvious things are the things we miss to see.

Thanks again for sharing those insights. I look forward to spending a little more time here and eating up the fruits of your experiences some more.

Have a great Katie… God bless you.

Michael I.

Great post Katie!

Establishing value is really something to focus on. This is something that you can’t ignore or taken for granted. Rather, one thing you have to strive and put into practice.
Value can’t be overlooked; people will always search for something to trust.

Be competitive enough and challenge yourself. It’s a good motivation to learn new things under your niche. Have the commitment to be the first one to share new trends and discoveries. Indeed, research is a MUST.

In time see how you start to dominate your chosen niche.

Thanks for your invaluable insights! It’s very

Thanks for the post. I believe that while ‘value’ is often a subjective term, we must never underestimate how powerful it is to be able to affect even one person in a positive way. And the beauty of the universe is that you don’t have to set out to achieve this. By living our lives on purpose, and from the heart, we open a channel for communication between what we know and what we do not. This channel can then facilitate growth within us and the people in our lives.

Thanks again,

Katie, you have such great content. I can’t seem to get your newsletter to work, every time I go to it to sign up, it says the page can’t be found. Maybe a link was dropped on the back end? You might want to check it out so people can sign up, just in case it’s not just something I’m experiencing on my end.

Aloha Katie:
It’s me again :) With five years of overcoming obstacles, learning the disciplines, and personal growth, I feel that “how” we perceive ourselves and our value has a tremendous impact on what and how others see us. I loved what you said here “Believing in yourself and knowing that you are truly valuable and have much to give to others is really a foundational requirement.” The impact and study of the mind is really where it is at. Great post!

This is so true. Investing in personal development, whether it be insights or hard-core, cutting edge info is the best way to become a leader, but sometimes we fail to recognize the value that we already offer. It’s easy to assume everyone already knows what you know because you’ve known it for so long that it seems like inherent truth. Trust that others want to hear about your knowledge and bravely go forth to share! :-)

Hey Katie! Great video and as always I learned something new from you! I really absorbed adding “Value” to build my brand but have not tapped into the more personal side of things as much. Like sharing my experiences as I am learning new things.

I did it for the first time in my video I just post but otherwise was not so much shared in my other posts. So will definitely work on that more and really soaked up your advice here.

If someone can relate then it will be much more of a possibility you will get their support and achieve them becoming a follower of your blog and reader!

Thanks for the great video on value… it really gave me something else to add into my personal branding knowledge! Great stuff girl! :)
