Awesome video, thank you for introducing us to Marie.

Procrastination is one of the most debilitating habits we carry, and it’s important to remember to flow in the moment while taking inspired action.

“Touch it Once” is an excellent mantra I will be using whenever I open bills, payments, etc.

Hi Katie,

Once again, you graced my screen with great content. I really resonated with what you were saying, it was almost as though you were speaking about me lol.

For too long I have been holding on to my truth and I am not sure why because nothing bad could ever come from it, only good in fact and so tomorrow I will have the conversations I need to have.

I realise now that by holding back our truth we are not only being detrimental to ourselves but those around us, because you could say we are being dishonest not to communicate what we really feel inside.

And I just love the one touch thing…there is stuff that i pick up and put back down and then when I look again I have 10 things to do. I am definately going to put this in to action.

Wish me Luck.
Beth Hewitt :-)

Another thing that your readers must be aware of is that touching it once also means that when they “touch” an item, and are working on finishing that item, they must resist the temptation of doing anything else until that task is completed. We are all highly tempted to read new emails, check incoming text messages on our phones, or taking phone calls while we’re working on something. Avoid these distractions, and stay the course of completing the first item that you “touched”. This will keep you from starting multiple tasks without completing any of them!

This can be applied towards anything in our lives as well! In fact, I recommend that you start applying it to small tasks and work your way up. When you’re cleaning your house, start with one chore in one room and finish it before you take on another chore that you noticed while performing the first chore. Plus, finish all chores in that room before you move onto the next room. If you can apply this concept to the simple things that you do in your life, it will become that much easier to apply it to the larger and more complex aspects of your life.

Awesome share Katie. I appreciate your transparency. Decisions, while not always easy to make, can always be made by turning inwardly and listening to our heart. I have experienced purposeful delays in decision making as well, and have experienced the “limbo”. I never thought about it actually blocking the creative energy from flowing, that was an “ah-ha” for me.

Thanks for referring us to Marie…she sounds very inspiring and I look forward to following her.

Listening to that I realized how many blockages are in my life and how distracted I can cause myself to become by over cluttering my computer, my house, my car, and always leaving things around to the last minute. It is time to start clearing the path as it arises and lay the foundations of the future to be built strong

Thank You Katie

As I look around at the sea of clutter in my office today, I’ve just made a solemn pledge to “touch it once” from now on. It’s so counter-intuitive that we struggle so hard against the things that we know we should do. I often find staring off into space more enjoyable than just getting to it. It’s taken a lot of study and effort to keep the demon of procrastination at bay and I thank you and Marie for providing me with some more weapons for the next battle.

Chuck Bluestein May 23, 2010 at 8:34 pm

I have heard of that touch it once tip but do not follow it totally. Maybe I should try it. I am always trying to find more efficient ways of doing things. Actuallly I follow a tip that a company offered $500,000 for and here is what won. Make a list of wht you need to do and do them in order of importance.

So if you are looking at a bill and your child is shot, then you stop looking at the bill for now and put if off till later and take your child to the hospital right now.

I so agree with this! I love Marie (I’m in RHH virtual mastery). I have tried to implement the TIO principle before with much success, but whenever I am stuck or afraid, I bog myself down with procrastination to avoid making difficult decisions. Thanks for the great reminder!

I have been a huge fan of Marie for a long time – great post – keeping our energies unblocked and also being conscious of what is going on inside us and what is blocking our creativity and energy is so important – other things to look for are foods we are eating, issues in our personal space, and lack of connection with nature.

TIO is a great idea certainly. Sometimes I put bills off to come back to later and forget and get another bill with a late fee. Yikes!

I have been doing more of TIO without knowing a concept like that exists. I find that when it is difficult doing things that are needed, turn on some great music that helps you get moving and then you can jam and clean or whatever you need to do and feel great while having fun and doing that thing.

Hey Katie,

Well, I liked the insight you gave on explanation of TIO concept. U kno, in our daily life it’s not just emails or small tasks we come across. As a software engineer, painter and writer i come across such moments when just digging problem once doesn’t work. I need to think for a solution many times, over a period of 1-2 weeks or sometime more than that. Similarly when I’m writing any article, it needs lot of think process in layers to finish the article which again take 1-2 weeks. And a painting can take more than a 3-4 months to finish. Also, we are depended on various other people to make our work complete. Like as a software engineer we work in teams. So every engineer has its own working speed to finish one task. So TOI doest work in those cases. As a painter I need to look carpenter for canvas, board and colours. So TOI doesnt work in such circumstances. Carpenter may not meet deadline to send canvas board in specified time. As a writer I’m dependent on Editor. Again any delay from editor side is going to delay my work. Can you please elaborate how can I handle these complex daily situations by implementing TIO concept.
