Ok, so I’ve been hooked on my VitaMix blender now for a few months… And it rocks! I make these smoothies almost every morning during the week and they give me the most amazing burst of natural energy! So I wanted to share this with all of you… And even though it may sound a little strange, it tastes delicious! And you don’t need a VitaMix either… Any decent blender will do.
So here it goes…
Handful of organic spinach
Handful of organic kale
1 small apple
1 small pear
1 banana
Handful of dried goji berries
Acai (either frozen Sambazon or acai powder)
1/2 – 1 cup of water (depending on how thick you like it)
A couple of ice cubes
Blend it all together and drink immediately! It will look green because
of the veggies, but there won’t be any veggie taste… The fruit completely
masks it and it is deliciously sweet!
Leave me a comment below and let me know how you like it!

Hi Katie, we got a VitaMix about a month ago too.
It is a amazing machine. Try some Mango in your green drink it is fantastic.
Have you tried making the potato, cheese and bacon soup in it?
We did it for kicks and were blown away that the vitamix
actually makes hot soup.
Keep working on you for you, and I’ll keep working on me for me and together we will change the world!
You have a choice so, make it a better than terrific day!

Hi Katie,
I’m totally addicted to Smoothies. As a busy mom, I find it’s an awesome way to get my daily requirement of fruits and veggies into my diet. And to give my smoothies an extra boost, I also add the InLiven Probiotic or Antioxidant Supplement – usually 1-2 teaspoons. I’m in love with the MiVitality Supplements, both can be found on this page.

Thanks for sharing your recipe — will give it a try before the week is out.
Have an awesome day:-)

Hi Katie,
I am with Michelle on the addition of In-Liven to smoothies, in one teaspoon you can add 26 certified organic wholefoods and 13 probiotic strains to help the body absorb all those delicious nutrients!
Would love to know more about the VitaMix blender.
Enjoy your day!

Hey Katie,
I responded excitedly to one sentence about green smoothies in your other post, didn’t realize you had a whole post about them…nice! Green smoothies changed my life, I drink one pretty similar to yours everyday. They’ve made improving my friends S.A.D. (standard american diet) much easier. Whereas I used to focus on trying to get them to subtract stuff from their diets – “stop eating cheeseburgers, fried chicken, etc.” – now I focus on adding – “don’t take anything away, just add the green smoothie”. It’s easy to make and delicious, so it’s not as hard to get people to try it. And once people start drinking green smoothies, they don’t stop, but they often stop eating really unhealthy stuff because the green smoothie shows them how good you can really feel from the right foods (i.e. raw fruits and greens)…green smoothies really are magical.
Anyway, blend the following in your vitamix. If you serve it to someone and tell them that it’s gourmet MILK chocolate mousse, I guarantee they’ll believe you and ask you where they can buy it.
2 ripe avocados
1/4 cup raw cacao powder
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup raw honey or agave
1 tbs raw carob powder
1 tbs vanilla (alcohol free extract)
2 tbs maple syrup
Keep it green,
Rafael

That’s a great recipe.
I’m going to link to your blog from my Healthy Eating for Healthy Living Tips, where I’ve been featuring ideas for healthy meals. It’s a great addition to my breakfast post!
Also Rafael’s chocolate mousse – my healthy desserts section is distinctly in need of some more ideas!

We love our VitaMix. We are going to try your Green shake. We usually just mix some fruits, soy milk and Osolean to make a great shake. Have lost 2 sizes since January.

Hi Katie
I am not able to source the kale here in Australia so I substitute for rocket or silverbeet.
This recipe is very yummy!
Thanks for sharing it with us. I will recommend it to others

Hi. When it all come to opinions, everyone has its own; specially regarding \”rite Recipe For Green Breakfast Smoothies!\”. Have you seen a good carob chocolate substitute?

Katie,
I too am a avid Vita-Mixer! Thanks for the smoothie recipe. I will be uploading a video soon of me doing my green smoothie which is similar to your but with a little “spice”! I just made the fresh red pepper crab soup for a couple of friends yesterday at a pool party. It was a hit!
Keep up the good work! Come by and say hello sometime!

I don’t have a vitamix, but now I want one even more than I did before! I do have a really awesome juicer though that I absolutely adore!
Juices and Smoothies are a great way to get a power-packed-punch of vitamins and minerals and often have almost pharmaceutical energy boosts! The body lets us know when it enjoys us feeding it the right thing!
That potato, cheese, bacon soup sounds absolutely delish!
