Great point. I had never really though of trying to balance the duality of our natures in relation to our professional sides. It makes perfect sense though.

Great post, and I know it’s been said but Romeo is adorable.

Marvelous video and kitty. I have 11 Cats so I am fresh out of names. You could name him Mystical Entrepreneur or Mister Netrepreneur and (Mr. Netty or Mr. Net) for short. Keep up the good work. Maryann Borzillary

Hey Katie super awesome video. 😉 Congrats on becoming a mom with your new baby!

I love what you’re talking about because there are so many dudes that are WAY out of balance with this. Love that you brought this up and had to share it out!

Loved how you tied in the kitty with this topic. Romeo is a good name.. I was also thinking “Zen” would be good as well. Let us know what you end up naming him.

First, congratulations on your new kitty! He emanates such warm and pure energy into the universe…he’s a wonderful addition to represent balance in your life. Secondly, what a great share! Exactly what I neeed to hear today! It makes sense that we have both masculine and feminine qualities since we come from both a mother and a father. It is critical for us to have balance and nurture ourselves as needed. We cannot ignore the need for inner reflection so that we can reflect outwardly with our highest form of light. As more people recognize the need to provide themselves with love and care, we are on our way to a healthier society.

Hello Katie.

Great point you have there, it is very important to balance the two of them. As we go along we will definitely learn how to balance the two sides of our personality.

Romeo is a wonderful name for your new kitty as he looks very cuddly…….maybe this name would fit him good as well “Smokey”.

Thank you for bringing this up!!

Chuck March 12, 2011 at 9:43 am

Your baby boy is a cat! You had me fooled but I guess that you intended that. I have a good name for him. His front paws are a different color than the rest of his legs so you can call him Paws. That would be a cute name for a cat– “Paws.”

I do not think that Romeo is a good name for him.

Oh I forgot to comment on your message. The Chinese know all about this. They even use it in healing and medicine. They call it the balance of yin and yang. I guess you have seen the symbol for it. See site below.

“Yang energy is usually characterized as hard, fast, solid, aggressive, hot and focused. These qualities are associated with masculinity and the daytime. While yin energy is often characterized as soft, slow, diffuse, insubstantial, cold, and tranquil. These attributes are generally associated with femininity, birth and the night.” From:

Wikipedia says:

“In Chinese philosophy, the concept of yin yang (simplified Chinese: 阴阳; traditional Chinese: 陰陽; pinyin: yīnyáng), normally referred to in the West as yin and yang) is used to describe how polar or seemingly contrary forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other in turn. Opposites thus only exist in relation to each other. The concept lies at the origins of many branches of classical Chinese science and philosophy, as well as being a primary guideline of traditional Chinese medicine,[1] and a central principle of different forms of Chinese martial arts and exercise, such as baguazhang, taijiquan (tai chi), and qigong (Chi Kung) and of I Ching divination.”

I started learning Chinese Kenpo karate and tai chi when I was 12 years old.

I just noticed in the above post that the quote from the wordpress site had a mistake. Instead of writing “insubstancial” as like the opposite to aggressive, they should have written “passive” as the opposite of aggressive. Passive would be like when you are doing meditation. Whereas “insubstancial” is insulting.

It is important to balance action and exercise with inaction, relaxation and sleeping. Mariah Carey said that the reason that she had a nerovus breakdown was because of a lack of sleep. So the yang helped her to be successful with fame and money but the lack of yin caused her to have a nervous breakdown. That is a failure (not success) of mental and physical health.

Hi katie – what thoughtful words of wisdom!! I think our qualities have a lot to do with how we were raised….whether our souls were open and happy in childhood. I know I do have nuturing qualities but they get overwhelmed by the overpowering need i have to get things done!! (What does that say about me?) I’m not really a cat lover but I do adore HORSES and find them powerful, graceful and fascinating creatures that put me ‘in the now’ and I get totally absorbed when I’m having a session with them…..have a look at this video if you have time….and I hope you enjoy:)

Hi Katie,

Have you been peeking over my shoulder today? 😉

About 1 hour ago I got off the phone with a good friend of mine who helped me go through some very deep, emotional processing on some core issues I’m in the midst of at this time. And what was one of the main solutions I came to in all this processing?

Nurturance of Self… Self Love… and Self Honor…

Your message today is in total synchronicity with my life… I love that. :-) All is for a reason.

I love cats! I like the name Romeo. He also looks like a ‘Tucker’ or a ‘Piper’ (even though ‘Piper’ is usually for females… but then again, maybe that can go either way, too… fitting for the masculine/feminine balance! 😉

Keep The Inspiration Flowing,

Hi Katie,
Your words are wise and so true. How we see ourselves plays such a large role in our personality and character. The result: How we treat ourselves e.g. lovingly, tenderly, nurturing or e.g. tough, harshly. Also, past emotional traumatic experiences that have not healed come into play. Your decision to live with a wonderful, loving kitty is exactly what I did when I was single some years ago. Animals of all kinds in our lives nurture us because they give unconditional love. Romeo was my (Italian) father’s middle name. Please name him Romeo. It is so fitting and unique. Pampering our bodies helps too. I am big into quality all natural ingredients lotions, washes, etc. Makes me feel like a thousand bucks/lol/(instead of $100 bucks). Since I have an intimate relationship with Jesus this makes a huge difference. In the Gospel of John, Jesus becomes known to us as a person who loves us unconditionally. Receiving His love has changed my life which was filled with lots of traumas.
Enjoy Romeo and Be Blessed!!

Hi Katie,
It’s nice to listen to your wise teachings again. You are very right. Women emancipation and the demand to compete with men, or,find ourselves in a situation where we have to completly take over, can force us to forget or loose our femininity if we are not watchful. Thanks for reminding us to go back to basics and a bit more.Glad you have bounced back.
Your kitty is absolutely beautiful and I think Romeo is a befitting name. You made a lovely choice. Cheers!

Awesome video Katie! Definitely an area I need to work on! It definitely is imperative that we take time to nurture ourselves… time out to refresh, reconnect and love within. Loved this video, appreciate you!

Whilst watching this I was trying to pick out what my more masculine traits are versus my feminine ones and it is so interesting. I concluded I have more of the masculine ones and will now work on those because that side may not be what is best for me at the moment.

Thanks again for your many words of wisdom

Thanks for the post Katie. The idea of the masculine and feminine are solid phycological principles and play huge roles in keeping us balanced and grounded in our real self. It’s way more than testosterone and estrogen. Keep up the great posts.

It also helps to use these 2 types of qualities in our relationships. Whether thats professional, family, friends, or significant other. You have to keep a good balance going since everyone thinks a different way.

I thoroughly enjoyed this post. I’m just getting back into network and online marketing after 7 years. It’s amazing how much has changed!! Not only the dynamics of how we do business online but how we posture ourselves as leaders makes all the difference in the world as to how people perceive us. This topic resonated with me because it is something I struggle with on a constant basis. I have such a strong character for a woman and sometimes it’s hard to turn it off when I need to or at the very least take it down a notch. I’m learning more about myself as I prepare to reenter the internet marketing arena/ The persona we project is in direct relation to our level of success and I will work diligently to balance the two. Thank you for shedding light on a topic that may be overlooked by many…yet at the forefront of everyone’s mind.

Robert Seth May 21, 2011 at 2:51 pm

This was a very interesting video Katie. I think I tend to be more the driving type on the outside with a desire to be more balanced on the inside. I liked all this stuff you said as it shows a person that it’s ok to be nurturing to yourself sometimes. I often times feel a little guilty when I want to express that side of me and I need to realize that as long as it’s kept in balance, I don’t need to feel that way. BTW, I like you kitty. I know you’ll enjoy his company lots! I like the name Romeo too. Have a great day and thanks again for the video!
