Wow Katie we need to have WAY more “bliss-apline”. Living in the moment is by far the best way to live. Life is more exciting, more entertaining, and you don’t EVER get bored. Gotta love it.

Katie
This was exactly what I needed right now. I have been in the state of disipline this afternoon and I forgot about the bliss part. I am going to start applying this right now.
Being in the present moment.

Hi Katie,

You are speaking right to my heart on this one. I am all about the Power of Now and of slowing down and enjoying the present moment; it is all we have!

My most recent blog post, Drink in Life Like Cold Water on a Hot Day, is about this very thing so when I happened upon this post it was a great fit.

I appreciate you not only for the messages you are delivering here on your blog but also as a fellow red-head …. :-) Gotta love it!

Hey Katie,

That’s a wonderful combination of two great words, or two great states of mind.

I have been definitely trying to keep myself in that place of being in the present moment while producing results by having the discipline to do so.

What’s been really helpful to keep myself in the bliss side of things for me has been actually truly understanding the meaning of “being in the present moment”. I am reading “The Power of Now” and so I make sure I plug into it on a daily basis and so that really always allows me to get into that place of being in the Now and to keep me there for a while. And it also allows me to remind myself to keep being in that state throughout the day.

A couple of other things I do is listen to music throughout the day, while I keep myself disciplined with productive stuff. I listen a lot pretty much all day long to Stanam Kaur – just amazing.

And then just very recently I started listening to a couple of Meditation podcasting channels. So, I would stop throughout the day and will do some guided meditation. For everyone, I recommend Meditation Oasis.

To keep myself on the discipline side, for me it has been never hard. I love working and creating, learning news stuff and implementing. I work with a big team of people and always have some big project on my hands.

But when it comes to my personal value that’s visible to my audience online, I sometimes can flake out a bit. So where I have been in the process of improving is that when I find myself having some free time, to actually focus on creating content rather than consuming content online. And that’s a huge tip I recommend to everyone out there. We tend to really spend a lot of time on consuming content and than no time is left for creating content when that is what really counts as discipline and results producing activities.

Hope my experience and resources will be helpful to you or some of your readers. Keep sending us good content to consume. :)

Hey Katie

The concept of “Bliss-apline” you explained is really what everyone should follow. We either live in the past unable to let go some of the events that have happened (good or bad) or running towards the future but forget to enjoy the present moment… and days, weeks, months, years & life just passes by.

Honestly, I am one of the folks who really really needs to practice “Bliss-apline” .. thanks for the wakeup call.

Just don’t want to wake up one day at the age of 60 asking myself – have I ever lived my life ?

Cheers!
Abizer

Hey Katie,

I get what you’re saying. There must be a balance between discipline and bliss just like there should be a balance between work and play. The difference is you can practice discipline and bliss at the same time as one another. For example, say I have a list of 5 things to do today. I will discipline myself by making sure I work on those things, HOWEVER also practice bliss by being fully aware during that time of working thus enjoying what I’m doing. I think its a lot easier for us that are empowered and have the blessing of doing what we love.

Arrivederci,

Katie,

I totally agree with everything you are saying here. I make it a point to do both every day. The best way for me to come back to the present moment is to concentrate on my breathing. It comes very easily when you do this.

I love your energy and passion! Thank you, Katie!!!

Great concept we can all use to stay in the moment by practicing Bliss-apline! Sometimes we all just need to get away and be alone and reconnect to ourselves and to what is important and real in our lives. Just a few moments spent in nature away from our busy lives can make a big difference. Breathing as one with the mountains and the trees and feeling the ocean of eternity dissolve all the illusions of worry, fear, and stress from your life. The happy flowers blooming all around you, the humming of a swarm of bees flying by and the sunlight reflecting off the jeweled rocks. A little bit of time spent not focusing on yourself but instead, focused on the wonderful life that is all around you. A moment spend in gratitude and appreciation for the blessings in your life. That moment can instantly get you back on track dancing along the tightrope of your life with the love from your heart on display to the world through your eyes and your millionaire smile! “Bliss-apline”

I think this is what children do so effortlessly. I do notice a marked difference in my happiness when I enjoy even the most mundane tasks (cleaning the cat box comes to mind). There’s something really satisfying about doing something – even a task that’s kinda yucky – to the very best of your ability. It just feels complete, and I feel like I’ve accomplished something at the end of the day, even if all I did was laundry.

I remember a book I read about this years ago. It was by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He created TM (transcendental meditation). The Beatles learned it to replace the drugs they were using. It is still around. He taught that when you meditate, your thoughts get deeper and deeper and closer to source. In Eckhart Tolle terms that means (source) be totally in the present.

The more that you meditate then the deeper your thoughts get on a permanent level. So the source is where all the bliss is but what does this have to do with getting things done well in the world. He taught that the deeper the thoughts are, the more powerful that they are as far as manifesting in the world.

Now I do not know if they can get powerful enough where they can manifest with no effort the way that Jesus created all that food. But they are powerful and focused enough to go a long way. So this is saying that bliss is wealth if that is what you want in the world. Jesus did say “Seek ye first the kigdom of heaven and all things else will follow.”

Here is an Indian story about what Jesus said above. A holy man visited a house and asked if he could stay there. The holy man was really God. The man who owned the house said that he could stay there. Then the goddess of wealth came and offered him a gold cup if she could stay there. So the guy said yes.

Then everyday the goddess of wealth gave the guy a gold cup. Then after 5 days the goddess of wealth said that she was going to leave since she didn’t like the holy man staying there. The man said that he would throw out the holy man to make her happy since he still wanted gold cups.

So the man told the holy man (God) to leave and He did. Then an hour after he left the goddess of wealth left. See the goddess of wealth always follows God. If the man would have let the holy man stay there, then the goddess of wealth would have stayed.

Bliss-apline…I love that term. As a parent, it’s definitely something that I strive to incorporate into my life everyday. Some days are much better than others but I think the point is to just be conscious of the present moment, so thank you for the reminder.
