Hey Katie,

Great wisdom! I agree totally and I’ve been consciously using the power of affirmations daily for about 3 years now. I can’t begin to tell you how truly transforming it has been for me totally reshaping my perception.

I’m currently a part of a class called “The 4T’s To Prosperity” and one of the assignments is to say 200 times daily for 21 days “I am Properous”. I have taken this class two times prior and it’s amazing that when I say “I Am Propsperous” now, I feel that moving through every cell of my being! I’m no longer just saying it, I feel, I know it, I am it!! Great stuff! Keep the wisdom coming!

Angela reed December 6, 2012 at 1:22 pm

Well having said this for 2 years what have you gained?

Andrew Gallagher June 29, 2009 at 4:11 pm

Thank you Katie,

I will put that into practice right away! Without a doubt this will help my personal affirmations tremendously. Thanks for the better breakdown and understanding, which I’ve heard and even practiced, but not actually experienced the good results of this.

Miles Kierson June 29, 2009 at 5:16 pm

Love what you are doing — just watched day one of your 7-day video. That being said…let me challenge you a bit.

You asserted that you were going to give the ‘truth about affirmations’, but what you actually expressed was your beliefs about them. Beliefs change (sometimes); truth doesn’t. There is some truth and some value in what you are saying — and I am going to re-invigorate my own practices as a result – but to call it ‘the truth’? I promise you, sometime in the future you will watch what you said here and will wonder how you could have said some of it.

An inquiry…Are you free if you substitute one subconscious habit for another? You may be rich, healthy, etc., but are you free? Are you happy? I know lots of very wealthy people who are not free or happy, as an example.

Hi Katie, I’ve heard about affirmations before but I never heard such a clear explanation of how they work. I will do them starting today, and I’ll let you know of my results.

I do appreciate you and your freely given knowledge.

Hey Miles, I really appreciate your honest feedback, thank you! And yes, you’re right… I was speaking from ‘my truth’. But there is definitely a scientific explanation for how affirmations do work once you integrate the feeling of what you are affirming with the thought. I am definitely not saying that I have the one and only truth, I was merely expressing the power behind this way of practicing affirmations.

gweis June 29, 2009 at 6:59 pm

Hi Katie

I have been using affirmations for the past year now and I agree that they are truly powerful.

They have really made a profound difference in my life. Thanks for your thorough explanation!

Hi Katie,

I see in your video how you’ve got the Buddha looking over your shoulder; it’s a provocative metaphor.

The “Dhammapada” or “The Way of the Truth” was written some 2500 years ago and is actually attributed to Gautama himself.

Here’s the opening line of my translation,

“As surely as the wheel follows the foot of the ox that draws the cart, all that we are is the result of what we have thought.”

Now the modern-day, distilled, bumper sticker version of Buddha’s dictum would be, “Thought is Creative.”

Hey wait a minute! I smell a rat. Fear and loathing! Quick run away, run away!

Whew, that was close! Because if we are foolishly unwary enough to accept that thought really is creative, then as sure as that damn wheel follows the ox’s foot, the next logical step is per-per-personal responsibility for the quality of our life experience.

(Nooooo, it’s my mother’s fault, really! My father too, the monster! Just look at these emotional scars and I was only a innocent child! Oh, the humanity!)

Not to mention that the empowerment/disempowerment implications are as staggering as they are scary.

I mean the scary disempowerment part is that we all, i.e., every human being on this planet, have an internal dialogue of thoughts incessantly jabbering away in our head pretty much out of control and now in turns out that those thoughts are creative!

(Oh boy! If we ever wondered why the world is a mess, let us wonder no more.)

But what about the staggering empowerment part?

Well, with equal inescapability, if we can learn how to take comand of this, our brain’s innate creative power, and through moment-to-moment practice, develop the mental habit of entertaining only positive, loving, high-quality thoughts, pictures and evoked feelings, then look out world because there actually may be a workable way to avert planetary catastrophe!)

But how exactly?

Like you in your video, Katie, metaphorically, yet imperatively, we need to have the Buddha (aka “this breathful, all-loving heart-presence”) looking over our shoulder as the “felt self” perspective from which we can effectively discriminate the quality of our mind’s ever so creative thoughts.

And as a reliable guide to that discrimination, well, nobody in my book has ever yet beaten the Golden Rule.

Only now, only love,

Sorry to be slow on the uptake, but, um, ok, now the blue pill, that’s the one where I wake up knowing Kung Fu, right?

Shaylee Gregg June 29, 2009 at 7:40 pm

Hi Katie,

First, I want to thank you for chatting me last week and answering my questions about network marketing! I will do more research this week and will chat with you soon!

During our conversation I shared with you that I’m a strong believer in the “The Secret” and there is a chapter in the book that talks specifically about what you are sharing with us today.

“The Secret” talks about “feeling the feelings of having it already.”

In my life right now, I want to become a successful network marketer. The day that I decided I wanted to become a successful network marketer I started feeling as though I’ve already attained it. I have been envisioning myself as a leader in the industry and have been enjoying the feeling associated with that. I take some time for myself throughout the day and visualize and feel the wonderful feelings associated with being a successful network marketer.

To take it a step further I also make sure my daily actions don’t contradict my passion for becoming a successful network marketer.

Every day I do something that will get me a step closer to that goal and I soak up the happy feelings that are associated with reaching that small goal.

You might want to know, “How do you feel like you are a successful network marketer if you haven’t experienced it yet?”

I look to Katie as a leader in the industry. As I watch Katie’s video’s and read her blog I extract her feelings and energy and incorporate that into my daily life.

I’ve done this in many areas of my life over the past few years and have had many great outcomes.

I highly recommend taking action today and start integrating feeling into your affirmations!

Thanks Katie for a great post!

Hey Shaylee, thank you so much for everything you said! It was great connecting over the phone the other day and I really look forward to getting to know you better and being a part of your incredible growth journey! And it’s so great to hear your feedback about affirmations… They are indeed powerful! Much love to you sister :)

Well said Katie! The emotion behind the affirmation is indeed the key and the challenge.
While simple it is not easy.
I’m working on it!

Yes, affirmation should really works but remember: ” The right man in the right place?”, it means whatever we do, do it right and proportional.

J.B. Washburn June 30, 2009 at 3:34 am

Katie – have you heard the guy who talks about afformations? He says when you tell your subconscious something that isn’t really true – your sub says “BS!!” But if you ask it a question like “Why do I get so many referrals?” then your sub goes to work to find an answer! That is a VERY short version of what takes up 2 CDs!!

Do you know about Unity School in Kansas City?
I attended there for many years I am now 54 and learned about affirmations when I was 12. The Bible and Christ taught all about affirmations. If people would just study the words written in these texts, it is clearly stated there.

Unity was founded in 1889 in Kansas City, Missouri, by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. After Mrs. Fillmore’s remarkable healing using prayer and affirmations, many friends became interested in how she accomplished this healing. Unity grew from small prayer circles in living rooms to the worldwide movement it is today.

Seekers of truth can find many truths in Unity teachings.

Dear Katie,

I am a firm believer of affirmations. That being said, allow
me to share with you some affirmations I learned from my good
mentor, T. Harv Ecker when I graduated from his Millionaire
Mind Intensive workshop:
I create my life. I create the exact amount of my
financial success.
I play the money game to win. My intention is to
create wealth and abundance.
I admire and model rich and successful people.
I believe money is important. Money is the freedom and money makes life more enjoyable.
I get rich doing what I love.
I deserve to be rich because I add value to other people’s lives.
I am a generous giver and an excellent receiver.
I am truly grateful for all the money I have now.
Lucrative opportunities always come my way.

There you are. I hope you the best, stay safe and take care.

Yours truly,

wfredhendrix June 30, 2009 at 9:18 am

Napolian Hill in the classic “Think and Grow Rich” stated almost 100 yrs ago that ” What the mind can concieve and BELIEVE it can achieve. ” The importain thing is to believe it. The subconscious will create what ever it is filled with. It cannot tell the diferance between negative or positive. So control your thoughts and you control your life. Fred

I use affirmations everyday. Yes to feel it and see it in your mind will make it stronger.
All things are possible though God whom gives me strength.

I posted your video to my blog.

Great video & thanks for sharing your wisdom.

Earl Heflin July 2, 2009 at 9:49 am

This is amazing and remarkable! This brings everything that I’m learning in a book called the Master Key System by Charles F. Haanel into perspective. As I understand it, the solar plexus, which lies in the back of the stomach,(a gut feeling) is the organ of the subconscious mind. When positive emotions fill the body, radiation is sent to the solar plexus and we become magnetic. This is why certain peoples mere presence will bring comfort to troubled minds.

Truly inspirational Katie as usual…thank you :}

Gary July 2, 2009 at 4:12 pm

Very interesting.
Another young woman who has been working with affirmations for many years, Dr Teri Mahaney, who has created what she believes are the most powerful messages to send the subconscious. I used one of them to create a poster which is here.

Teri’s CMN video is here.

Now lets consider those who think it’s all a bunch of bunk. What if there is actually no ‘power’ in positive thinking? What if there is nothing mystical or spiritual about it? What if ‘The Secret’ is really all about marketing books and videos? What if the subconscious is just an illusion based on the interplay of various chemical processes? Well .. It still works. Thoughts, cognition, whatever they are, are a necessary precursor to deliberate action, and when thoughts are positive and devoid of fear, they are more likely to succeed. That is just math. Nothing mystical required. :)

Tanya July 4, 2009 at 3:10 am

Thank you for sharing, Katie.
I believe in affirmations. Now I am practicing commandments of Og Mandino in his book “The Greatest Secret in the World”. You have to engage feelings amd imagination here otherwise it’s waste of time. It’s harder than it seems to be.
I remember I started to read this book a few years ago and I quit. Now I am able to focuse on the words and allow them to penetrate deeply into my consciousness. I think practicing yoga helps a lot.

Hey Katie,

It is so true that positive affirmation is 100% more powerful then negative affirmations. Negative affirmations can be very deadly if one uses it on a daily basis.

I have learned a lot over the years that when you thing POSITIVE, you really attract good things into your life whether you know it or not.

The Law Of attraction in the movie “The Secret” is really true. When you think LACK, you attract lack and bad things into your life.

Thanks for sharing this video with us.

Pim Stort July 29, 2009 at 4:14 am

Hi Katie. Just discovered you from Buderim which is 1 hour north of Brisbane, Australia. I’m writing a book called “Unleash Your Money Mojo” and you are spot on with everything in this video about the fact that you need to communicate with your unconscious mind and how critical that is to your success. May I suggest one additional technique which will turbo-charge your affirmations. When you visualise what you are affirming (with mental pictures, sounds, feelings and self talk) you need to ensure that you adust the qualities of those things to line up with the qualities of beliefs you hold to be true. e.g. If your true beliefs take up a panoramic, bright, full-color moving picture which excites you then the new belief you are affirming to yourself needs to have those same qualities. i.e. make the qualities the same as the way your mind stores true beliefs. Give it try! It will speed up the procees endlessly. Love your work. I’ll be back regularly. Pim Stort

Alex Lim August 28, 2009 at 4:07 am

What I learned in Psychology that was stocked in my mind is that the subconscious mind has this great power over us. Anything that we habitually say or think will penetrate unto our subconscious which eventually manifest through our personality and point of views. So, if you think that life sucks and you tell it to yourself every time, you are just making yourself miserable. On one hand, positive affirmation will be a great help to overcome absurdities in a healthy manner and less stressful

Louise Evans September 19, 2009 at 2:13 pm

You don’t have to believe it to work or not because it is the law of attraction, just like the law of gravity….you are using it in your daily live subconciously. But for your affirmations to works more effectevely try the eft technique.

Great vid…again! Affirmations totally changed my life…I started using them about 5 years ago. Have you read Louise L Hay? She’s my favourite writer on the subject.

Jason Kerchner November 6, 2009 at 8:17 am

Absolutely right on, Katie. Your mind knows when you are lying to it! In order to get thoughts into our subconscious, we must FEEL them. We can also change our body language to match our thoughts.

Aloha Katie,
I’m just cruising through some of your older entries and catching up with work you’ve done before. I agree with you…I used to be quite sceptical about affirmations in the beginning, but like you, I had to study the “science” to validate the power between neuro-linguistic programming and the creation from what an affirmative feeling, with words can do! Totally amazing!
Sending you aloha from Hawaii!

Jarrod @ Optimistic Journey April 5, 2010 at 4:04 pm

Katie, I love your videos because they are so inspiring. I am a true believer in positive affirmations. I use them to change my mindset when I’m depressed, angry, feel misunderstood, worried, anxious, or fearful.

Affirmations have changed my life over the last few years and as a result, they’ve led me to be the optimistic person that I am today. Not to say that I don’t get negative thoughts flowing from time to time, I’m sure everyone gets negative thoughts from time to time, even the experts and doctors.

But it’s how we’re able to negate those negative thoughts and turn them into positive emotions within us.

Thanks, Katie, for sharing and being such an inspiration!

WOW This Blog is really a big World to discover day by day!
And I think this post of 29 Jun is your Best Post!
Because this post will be always fresh…
You explain it Very Well, and I’d like to say further that what I’m actually experiencing is that…manifestation is becoming irrelevant.
I’m becoming so good at visualizing that this is absolutely the Best-Time of my day and I don’t need external proofs anymore. If you can Feel it, it’s real. And when it’s real inside, it MUST be real outside. But you are not taking the score anymore, you just want to stay in the feeling, because you begin to understand that life is really a feeling…in this moment of NOW.

Thanks for this Rockin’ Sharing!

Thanks for the great info you post on this site!

I’ve read several books dealing with this subject but my favorite so far is called The Master Key System by Charles Haanel that deals in depth with this subject.

The book was originally published as a correspondence course in 1912 and then as a book in 1917, in other words this is classic material!
