Hey Katie, this piece resonated with me on a real emotional level. I have spent the best part of a week, working on a piece about identity and self -discipline, after a hearing stephen pierce state ” you will never be able to achieve anything that is inconsistent with how you see yourself”. This statement hit me like a run away train. I had been working on an post about self discipline, but after hearing this, my thought process went so much further, and I found myself writing through tears. Your article, has helped to further cement and strengthen some of conclusions, and resulting decisions I have made in those two areas. Authentic power is something I hope to cultivate and grow as I move forward in my life, and I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to address it in this insightful way

This post is just so powerful. I can't tell you the number of times I've needed to stop myself over the past few years and ask, "Am I doing this, seeking this, trying to buy this, trying to be this person because is authentic to me or because I want people to see me a certain way." The search for authenticity has taken me to amazing places within myself, but also some places that has really surprised me (in terms of my motivations). Hi Katie, I too agree that this post hit a hot button for me as well. I feel that a lot of people go through life and they are constantly battling between the two. I feel that many of us are at some point feeling authentically empowered while at the drop of a dime we have the feeling of being dis-empowered.
